
South Central Calhoun Community School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Dan Davis as the 2026-2027 High School Principal.
Mr. Davis emerged as the top candidate among four highly qualified applicants who interviewed for the position on May 11th. Throughout the interview process and reference checks, Mr. Davis demonstrated a strong commitment to relationship building, student-centered leadership, and fostering a positive school culture focused on student success.
Mr. Davis brings extensive educational experience to South Central Calhoun with professional stops in Alaska, Iowa, Arkansas, and Las Vegas, Nevada. During his career, he has served in a variety of educational leadership roles including coach, teacher, dean of students, and assistant principal. Most recently, he has spent many years serving students and staff in Las Vegas.
In addition to his professional background, Mr. Davis has deep ties to the local area. He previously worked for Southern Calhoun in the late 1990s, serving out of the Lincoln building prior to its closure. He also has many family members who continue to reside in the area, making this transition especially meaningful for him and his family.
Mr. Davis earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Iowa State University in 1996 and later earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He is PK-12 certified as an administrator and is currently in the process of transferring his professional administrative licensure to Iowa.
During the interview process, Mr. Davis shared his excitement about returning to Iowa, calling it “a place that he considers home.” His passion for education, commitment to students, and enthusiasm for becoming part of the SCC community stood out throughout the hiring process.
South Central Calhoun CSD is excited to welcome Mr. Davis to the high school and looks forward to the leadership, experience, and positive relationships he will bring to the district and community.
